Facebook did a Study and found that for every Five hundred friends you have on their site about nine of those friends are truly your friends. That’s quite an astonishing number if you stop and think about it. Take a minute and look through your facebook friends and see which ones you would rely on in a pinch when you really needed them. I have less than the 500 friends and I can easily go six months with out talking to two thirds of them. This is not good or bad, but simply eye opening to the fact of what are we allowing to influence us on a Social media site through people that don’t even know if I have a family pet much less be there for me in a time of need nor would they ask me to be there for them. Who are our real friends. The Friends that will set you straight when you need to be set straight or the ones that will be there for you at 2 am because you are going through a rough patch in your life? Are there 10 people on Facebook that you would trust your kids with? Maybe. True Friends won’t place your friendship ahead of your morals, true friends will inspire you to be what God has truly called you to be. Seeing that the Flipside is a youth group, Tj was speaking to a group of kids, but he was speaking to me to. Single, married, young or old Tj spoke wisdom into your life if you got the privilege of hearing him speak Wednesday night! The subtitle of the message was Wipe the Slate Clean Young people your slate isn’t near as dirty as you think it is, I promise you! 9 times out of 10 that person you are in LOVE with….. is not the one, but if you will stay pure and not fall into the temptation that society sets in front of you, you will find that God has a plan for your life! I am hear to tell you God’s plan is way better than your half hearted attempt at a plan. Tj hit on this point by saying don’t let the opposite sex control your thoughts and or actions.
Married Adults this goes for you too. Good marriage, bad marriage the rules are the same……… There is absolutely no other person out there that can fix your problems, if they want to go for coffee, they are looking for more than coffee! Always remember that good people get drug down way before bad people get pulled up. A marriage is a blessing and if you are pointing the finger at your spouse there is a scripture I’d like to share with you out of Luke Chapter 6 verses 41 & 42, and it says “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. There are so many times that we want to blame others for our problems when if we would simply Wipe the Slate Clean and fix ourselves by letting God take control of our lives and our actions and emotions, that little cup of coffee to discuss our problems, ( which by the way is like adding fuel to a fire) would not be needed!
God has a plan for our lives, but the thing is, well God isn’t going to force your hand! God will wipe your slate clean, he doesn’t just wipe it clean he throws it in the trash and gives you a new slate and forgets the other one ever even existed. So if you will Wipe YOUR Slate clean and let God have total control of your life you will be amazed at how clean your slate stays……… Basically God’d protection on your life and your relationships with people is like pouring a huge bottle of rain X on your slate, it stays clean way easier! Trouble doesn’t follow God, but you can!
